5 Tips On How to Plan Your Months
This is 5 tips on how to plan your months effectively. If you have always wanted to plan your months for success and don’t know how, stay tuned. I have been doing this method since January and it has worked wonders for me as a busy mom of 3 and with a house and business to manage.
I’ll tell you a secret… I have ALWAYS struggled with time management. Naturally, I have a lot going on, but I also procrastinate, get distracted easily, and I probably have ADHD because I can never finish something without starting something else. Here, I came up with these 5 steps that always work when planning my months for success whether it’s for houses, personal, homeschool or business. It is helpful for all areas of life.
Why is planning your month beneficial?
- It helps to go into the month with a “clean slate”.
- Helps promote mindfulness in different areas of your life.
- You are letting go of last month and you get another “try” for more productivity.
- You get to create an overview of what is coming up so you don’t miss any appointments, events, or deadlines.
- You can plan events with more confidence because you know what you have going on already.
- It will improve organization and time management skills.
- Helps improve your odds for success.
- Gives you the ability to create short term goals that can contribute to long term goals.
- Helps reduce stress and anxiety.
What do you need to plan monthly?
You will need some type of planner/calendar, either physical or digital. My preferred choice is a physical daily planner with a weekly and monthly overview. (I love the paper to pen connection but I’m trying to get used to digital). Currently I am obssesed with Papier’s Undated Daily Planner!! They have so many designs to choose from and the best thing is that you can custom them and add your name on the cover and current year.
I have ran through 5 planners all with different designs which makes it fun every step of the way. From ordering to unboxing and planning. The undated design helps with no stress of missing days or skipping a week (it happens) and you can order for any time of the year. These planners are 16 week-view – each week has 3 overview pages and 7 daily pages (one page per day) for your daily schedule and to-dos.
5 TIPS ON HOW TO PLAN YOUR MONTH FOR SUCCESS:
- Brain dump all things for the month.
- Break the list in sections according to priority/urgency.
- Plug it in through the month with your desired “due dates”.
- I go into the month with 3 things to complete EACH DAY. Whatever doesn’t get completed gets rolled over to the next day.
- I will do that until that big list gets done. Sometimes things on that list don’t get done and that lets me know it wasn’t a priority.
- I revisit brain dump list next month to see what I can rollover to the new month and do it all over again.
It’s the simplest way and most effective way to plan your months and change your lifestyle.
